Small and medium enterprises shooting for the stars: what matters, besides size, in outer space economy?

Abstract The popular mindset and widespread narrative, at least until not so long ago, was that in outer space affairs the fiefdom belongs, politically economically, to governments big businesses. An array of alliances between few states their privileged partners from corporate world constituted highly exclusivist ecosystem. Little room supposed be available non-full-fledged spacefaring nations enterprises originated them, a configuration furthermore jammed by fact international agreements – i.e., “Outer Space Treaty” (1967) an “Moon (1979) seem rather dismissive extensive exploitation celestial bodies, adding already prohibitive costs such endeavours if legitimized. Devoted mainly scientific exploration paired with only planetary proximities viz., large satellite population orbiting Earth, support serviced industries, all estimated half trillion dollars –, economy, its high-tech dimension, steadily democratized itself, becoming more competitive, collaborative too, opening up small medium (SMEs), many coming emerging nations. literature covering SMEs contribution development economy is on track consolidation, as process itself unfolding, data most powerful players (e.g., US, EU). Valuable insights are added starting common wisdom institutions (channelling economic information incentives) main drivers development, than business size, even competitive- global economy. A case study dedicated Romanian experience (that relatively new little player European/global affairs). conclusion unbounded creativity borderless capital, visionary enterprises, or small, fit into industry value chains, pro-market, pro-business climate secured.
